Cha-no-wa 茶之環 | Hong Kong
Rating: ❤❤❤❤
Located in Citysuper in Time Square, Cha-no-wa is well known for their matcha roll cake and as a matcha fan, I've been want to try it here for a while. I had actually bought two rolls before to a friend's house party while secretly hoping they would serve it so I can try it - but they didn't! Anyways, I ended up getting a roll for myself!
While the packaging was elaborate by HK standards (with layers and layers), it didn't seem that foolproof seeing how the top of the roll was still crushed by the box somehow. For $150, the roll was a bit small where you can comfortably divide into 4-6 slices depending on how thick each piece is.
The matcha cake itself was soft and moist enough but it was really the matcha cream that stole the show! The cream was rich and full of matcha flavor while the ratio of cream to cake was perfect as well. If only the prices were lower, this would be a great breakfast / snack / dessert to have any time of day!
