Top 10 Fine Dining Restaurants in Hong Kong
The question that I get the most is what are the best restaurants to try in Hong Kong so I've decided to put together a series of list that will hopefully help you with your restaurant planning. Here's my list of top 10 fine dining restaurants to try in Hong Kong for those who have the budget and are looking to splurge for a special meal!
VEA Restaurant & Lounge
VEA is the brainchild of chef Vicky Cheng and famed mixologist Antonio Lai, and definitely one of my top favorite restaurant in Hong Kong! The chef manages to fuse French and Chinese cuisine together seamlessly which is best appreciated by those who have an understanding of Chinese cuisine to fully realize the ingenuity of the dishes here. The thoughtful cocktail pairing is also worthy of a try when you are dining at the VEA restaurant!

Amber
Currently ranked #20 on the "World's 50 Best Restaurants" list, the 2* Amber is the only restaurant in Hong Kong to be included on the prestigious list. Located in the Landmark Mandarin Oriental with culinary director Richard Ekkebus at the helm, the restaurant's signature Hokkaido Sea Urchin is a must-try (which unfortunately has been taken off the menu) and the Weekend Wine Lunch with 6 courses of food and wine pairing is a fabulous way to spend the weekend for sure!

The 1* Tate Dining Room & Bar never fails to impress where the chef Vicky Lau is best known for her edible stories of French-Asian cuisine and was crowned Veuve Clicquot's Asia's Best Female Chef 2015! The restaurant's intimate and romantic setting is perfect for any type of celebration and it offers a really good value for money in terms of the quality and creativity of the food that you get with its gorgeous presentation and innovative pairing of ingredients.

The Chairman 大班樓
The Chairman is one of my favorite restaurant for traditional Cantonese cuisine which strives to bring out the original flavors of food by using fresh and local ingredients. Even though the restaurant has been snubbed by the Michelin guide, it is currently ranked #35 on "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants" list and beloved by locals in Hong Kong. The signature Steamed Fresh Flowery Crab with aged Shaoxing wine and flat rice noodle is an unforgettable dish that will leave you yearning for more!

Empire City Huaiyang 大都淮揚
With its beautiful "ready for camera" dishes, Empire City Huaiyang is the place to take your family, friends, visitors and business guests if you want to dazzle them with traditional Chinese cuisine that are presented in a modern way. Not only does the food look good, they are also very well-executed with exquisite flavors from its dim sum to the main attraction here - Peking duck with foie gras and caviar!

Greater China Club 大公館
A high end private dining club located in the remote neighborhood of Lai Chi Kok, Greater China Club will guarantee to stimulate your 5 senses with food, wine, art and music. The good news is that the restaurant is open to the public as well which serves traditional Cantonese cuisine by the former executive chef at the 3* The Eight in Macau and creative dim sum by an ex-chef from the 3* Lung King Heen. Don't miss the signature Roast Suckling Pig which is stuffed with flavorful glutinous rice (need to be ordered in advance)!

The 2* Yan Toh Heen in the InterContinental Hotel is one of the best places to eat dim sum in Hong Kong with beautiful views of the Victoria Harbour and food to match. From the decadent jade utensils to delicate dim sum, the experience was impressive from start to finish including the ginger ice cream dessert!

Lung King Heen 龍景軒
As the first Chinese restaurant in the world to be awarded the coveted 3 Michelin stars, Lung King Heen is another restaurant to eat elegant dim sum with views of Victoria Harbour. Reservations for weekend dim sum and window seats are hard to come by so be sure to book in advance!
Wagyu Takumi
Wagyu Takumi is a 2* French-Japanese restaurant helmed by chef Mitsuru Konishi who has previously worked in Robuchon Tokyo as well as several other Michelin establishments in Paris. Located on a secluded street in Wan Chai, the restaurant is best known for its charcoal-grilled dishes and the signature Japanese wagyu beef is a popular dish to try here.

I had dinner at Lung King Heen a few years ago it was stunning quality food. The wait staff were also exceptionally helpful and friendly. It's probably the best Chinese dinner I have ever had.
