[Auckland] Food and Wine Tour at Waiheke Island
Another day trip I took in Auckland was to Waiheke Island - New Zealand's most densely populated island located only 35 minutes away by ferry! The beautiful island has many scenic beaches, olive groves and vineyards which makes it a perfect getaway for nature lovers as well as gourmet lovers. The weather was gorgeous and I was able to get great views of the Auckland skyline on the top deck of the ferry.
Our first stop was award-winning Rangihoua Estate which produced the first olive oil made on the island! We had an informative tour where we learned how the oil is produced on the estate and tasted a range of different extra virgin olive oils.
Our second stop was Kennedy Point - Waiheke Island’s only certified organic vineyard where they produce Syrah, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Rosé wines. They also produce olive oil and avocado oil, and we had the luxury of sampling the wines with local Te Matuku Bay oysters and cheese board on a deck overlooking Kennedy Bay.
Our last stop was also my favorite stop where we had lunch at Mudbrick Vineyard! The beautiful winery sits on the Mudbrick ridge and overlooks the Hauraki Gulf. The set up of the restaurant is just dreamy and romantic, and many people come here for celebrations. We had a long and fantastic lunch here with wine pairing, and I couldn't ask for a better way to end our day in Waiheke Island.

Cheers to a wonderful day in Waiheke Island! I can't wait to be back in summer time to see the New Zealand Christmas trees in full bloom along the beach!
