[Japan: Tokyo] Sushi Hoseki at Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo

Follow me to the glamorous Bvlgari Hotel in Tokyo! Occupying the 40th to 45th floors of the Tokyo Midtown Yaesu skyscraper, the hotel is located in a highly convenient area right across from Tokyo Station. Opened in April of last year as the brand’s first hotel in Japan, the property is home to 98 impeccably designed rooms and suites. We stayed in the Superior Suite with separate living and bedroom areas along with stunning views of Tokyo Skytree. Seamlessly blending Japanese and Italian aesthetics, the hotel simply oozes with understated luxury. Dining options include the 1* Bulgari Niko Romito Tokyo, Sushi Hoseki, The Bvlgari Lounge, and The Bvlgari Bar on the 45th floor with panoramic views of the city from the rooftop terraces. Don’t miss the spa with a full length 25-meter swimming pool and a vitality pool with a gorgeous mosaic wall inspired by the Baths of Caracalla from Ancient Rome. During our stay, we had a fantastic dinner at its Japanese restaurant Sushi Hōseki. Meaning jewel in Japanese, the restaurant’s name is befitting for the Bvlgari brand. At the helm is Kanagawa native Takuro Shimizu with experiences at renowned restaurants all over Japan. With just 8 counter seats, the chic and cozy space looks out into a zen garden and offers a traditional omakase meal that is sure to be a treasured experience for its guests. See more in my reel here.

Our meal started with the showcase of a beautiful block of bluefin tuna from Oma in Aomori which is best known for the finest quality of maguro in Japan. We didn’t have to wait long to try as the nigiri portion started with the progression of tuna from Otoro to Chutoro and finally Akami Zuke. As expected, the tuna was absolutely amazing, and my favorite piece was the otoro which just melted in the mouth. The shari was also terrific with a good balance of vinegar and temperature. To complement the meal, we started with champagne before moving on to sake where the restaurant has around 20 different sake labels to choose from.

The next morning, we had breakfast at the Niko Romito restaurant where we chose the Japanese and Italian sets to try. The Itatian breakfast is reminiscent of the one I had at the chef's restaurant Reale in Italy.
