[Japan: Tokyo] Tokyo Bay Gourmet Cruise with Ginza Shinohara

Follow me to a luxurious gourmet cruise on a yakatabune in Tokyo Bay with Tokyo Bay Exclusive Gourmet Cruise! Yakatabune is a traditional Japanese houseboat used for dinner parties since the Heian period. While there are many night cruises in Tokyo, there are none like this one which features exclusive and hard-to-reserve restaurants in Japan. The first event last week showcased the exquisite kaiseki cuisine by 2* Ginza Shinohara (銀座しのはら) - one of the top restaurants in Tokyo! Reservations at his restaurant can be hard to come by so the cruise offered a great way to savor his food in such a special setting no less.

The cruise departs from Takeshiba and will park in Odaiba for the duration of the meal so you don’t have to worry about too much movement while you eat. The next event will take place on April 21st with Sushi Namba - a top sushi restaurant in Tokyo famous for the precise temperature of its sushi! Most yakatabune are pretty casual with tatami mat seats but the one here features a very upscale interior.

During the meal, we were given the opportunity to go to the top of the boat to take in the views of Rainbow Bridge and Odaiba.

Favorites of the meal included the gorgeous hassun with the theme of setsubun, the shirako tempura with caviar, the Hida beef sukiyaki with hokkigai, and the tenbara. The cuisine was paired with a prestigious wine line up of Salon, IWA 5, Jikon, Juyondai, Le Montrachet, and exclusive sake made for Shinohara San only. The epic night was made all the more special with the breathtaking night views of Rainbow Bridge and Odaiba!
