Food & Dining at The Pulse in Repulse Bay | Hong Kong

The Pulse is finally opened in Repulse Bay! This mall by the beach has been vacant for as long as I can remember and now there's a new hangout spot in the south side. I stopped by over the weekend to check out what is there to eat and I was lucky that the weather cooperated with me by blessing me with sunshine so it wasn't too cold by the beach in December.

Quite a few shops are opened now with a handful still to come. There seems to be a big focus on children with a section of shops dedicated to that which is dubbed Kids Zone while most of the F&B are located on the ground floor facing the beach. You can also find Loveramics which is my favorite place to shop for gorgeous plates and cups while Pure Yoga and Fitness fans will be happy to find a branch here in the south side. For the latest, check out http://www.thepulse.com.hk/en/.

What to eat:

Limewood is the latest venture by Maximal Concepts behind Blue Butcher, Fish & Meat and Brickhouse. The beach-side location is perfect for its specialty - BBQ, Seafood and Margaritas! The menu looks tantalizing with Asian-inspired appetizers like tiger prawn rolls, Vietnamese crab salad and spicy BBQ pork belly along with whole roasted fish, prime rib and Hawaiian roasted baby pig leg to name a few. For desserts, you can round off your meal with some toasted banana pudding or hand piped churros! Prices are in line with its Soho counterparts with starters ranging from under $100-$200 and mains starting from $200+. Love the beachy decor in the restaurant which seemingly transports diners to Southeast Asia - I suspect this will be wildly popular come warmer weather!

For those who live on the south side, the restaurant has teamed up with Food Panda for home delivery! Check it out at www.foodpanda.hk

Classified is a casual cafe that needs no introduction with many locations around Hong Kong including Stanley on the south side. What I love here though is the two hanging sofas right in front of the cafe that looks quite fun to chill in!

To be honest, I totally came here for Lab Made ice cream! Using liquid nitrogen to freeze its ice creams, it produces the smoothest and creamiest ice cream which are made from scratch using fresh and quality ingredients. Flavors change often and currently they are running festive flavors until Dec 31st. Unlike most of their shops which are takeaways, the one here has a seating area inside so you don't need to stand and eat anymore.

I chose The Snowman ($44) with white chocolate greek yogurt ice cream snowman on coconut raspberry tart. The ice cream was smooth and creamy with rich flavors while I loved the chips that made up its face. The coconut raspberry tart was too hard and dry - I would've preferred a crunchier base.

Where else in Hong Kong can you enjoy such an adorable ice cream by the beach?

My adventure to The Pulse ended perfectly with this gorgeous sunset. Great food, shopping, a day at the beach - what are you waiting for?
