[Tokyo] Sushi Ishiyama 鮨いしやま

One of my earliest sushi experience in Tokyo was at Sushi Ya in 2015 and I had enjoyed the meal so when Chef Ishiyama recently departed to open his own restaurant Sushi Ishiyama in Ginza, I decided to pay him a visit at the new location. The space is much bigger and grander with 12 seats at the counter, yet I kind of missed the coziness at the old location. The prices have gone up but in par with other sushiyas in the area and we definitely left feeling full with 12 pieces of tsumami and 15 pieces of sushi. As with our previous experience, we were more impressed with his tsumami than his sushi as some of his neta were rather weak (most notably the aji, kohada and the tuna progression), but overall it was an enjoyable meal with attentive service.
