[Peru: Lima] Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel

When luxury at a hotel is not just about the hardware…

Hello Lima! This was my first time visit Peru and for our first stop in Lima, we stayed at the luxurious Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean! Perched on a cliff in the upscale Miraflores district, the hotel’s prime location is perfect for exploring the city including the super trendy Barranco area. Rooms start at a generous size of 45 sqm at the all-suite hotel.

We actually flew into Lima on a red-eye flight, and thankfully our room was already available to us upon our arrival in the early morning. The staff had even prepared a breakfast spread for us in the room. Throughout our stay, pretty much all of the staff addressed us personally by name - a testament to the superb hospitality of the Belmond brand. We had a wonderful stay here while exploring Lima for the first time!

ROOM:

The rooms at the hotel are all suites so even the entry level rooms start at a generous size of 45 sqm. Our standard Junior Suite has beautiful ocean views, separate work and sitting areas, and opulent marble bathroom.

FACILITIES:

One of the star features of the hotel is the swimming pool on the rooftop with amazing views! Although we were visiting during winter time, the pool is heated so guests can swim all year round. Other wellness facilities include a fitness center and Zest Spa featuring organic products from the Peruvian Amazon.

DINING:

During our stay, we had lunch at its stylish restaurant Tragaluz. The restaurant’s interior was chic with colorful art while the terrace was perfect for alfresco dining. The menu has a great selection of Peruvian and international dishes which can be enjoyed with cocktails from Tragaluz’s bar or Peruvian wines. Highlights included the classic ceviche with fried squid, razor clams with artichoke, and grilled scallops with a tangy balsamic sauce!

CLASSIC CEVICHE, catch of the day, fried squid

RAZOR CLAM, artichoke, furikake

SCALLOPS, balsamic, crispy garlic

TRADITIONAL “ARROZ CON PATO”, chili cream, “chalaca”

BASS, cau cau sauce, potato mille-feuille

Cacao, macambo, coffee, tumbo

Traditional Peruvian cherimoya dessert

Breakfast at the hotel is a lavish affair with a buffet selection of Peruvian and international dishes on the rooftop restaurant The Observatory with spectacular views. I absolutely loved trying the unique local fruits, the 3 flavors of mini tamales with creole sauce, and the famous Peruvian butifarra sandwich which was made to order.

I was told that I must try Pisco when in Peru and luckily, the hotel offers a complementary Pisco Sour Masterclass for hotel guests at its gorgeous Belo Bar! Pisco is a high-proof spirit created from distilled fermented grape juice and Peru's national drink. During the class, we tasted a flight of pisco made with different grapes and learned how to make our very own pisco sour cocktail.

Thank you Belmond for the warm welcome to Peru!
