Follow me to Palacio Nazarenas, A Belmond Hotel in Cusco, Peru! A former 17th century convent built on ancient Inca walls, the all-suite hotel has been restored to its glory with timeless Spanish colonial architecture. We stayed in the spacious One Bedroom Suite with separate dining & sitting areas, canopy bed, Peruvian marble bathroom, and underfloor heating. To combat the effects of high altitude in Cusco, oxygen is pumped into the room via the air conditioning system - a true luxury! Our suite was situated in a courtyard with an ancient fountain at its heart. From there, it was just a short stroll to the outdoor pool - the first of its kind in Cusco!
ROOM:
The hotel offers various suites from Junior, Studio, One Bedroom to Signature - each varying in size and with some offering a balcony with views of the garden or city. We stayed in the spacious One Bedroom Suite at 68sqm with separate dining & sitting areas, canopy bed, Peruvian marble bathroom, and underfloor heating. The space was carefully decorated with antique furniture and thoughtful touches such as a super cute plushie with a hot water bottle for use in bed. The best feature of the room, however, is the oxygenation system which helps guests to combat the effects of high altitude in Cusco!

FACILITIES:
Aside from the heated outdoor swimming pool, other facilities at the hotel include the Hypnoze Spa which offers unique treatments inspired by Inca and Andean culture. The property is also full of relaxation areas in its courtyards, gardens, library, and even a historic chapel.

Even the signs are presented in colonial style! |
DINING:
Dining at Palacio Nazarenas is a serious affair at its restaurant Mauka which is directed by World’s Best Female Chef Pia Leon of Kjolle in Lima. The restaurant celebrates the bounty of Cusco and the Andean mountains with its hyper-local cuisine. Aside from a la carte lunch and dinner, breakfast for hotel guests is also served at Mauka where everything is made to order! Choose from nourishing fruit & yogurt bowls, sweet doughs, eggs, and savory sandwiches. Don’t miss the fresh juices and specialty coffee from the surrounding region - the Cacao drink with Almond and Banana was our favorite!
